Ms. Elizabeth H. Davila is Independent Director of the company. She also served as Vice Chairperson of our Board from September 2008 through November 2017. Ms. Dvila was the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of VISX, Incorporated, a manufacturer of laser vision correction systems, which was acquired by Advanced Medical Optics in May 2005. Prior to becoming Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of VISX in 2001, she served as President and Chief Operating Officer of VISX from 1999 to 2001 and as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 1995 to 1999. Ms. Dvila currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Afaxys, Inc., a private company that supplies family planning providers with pharmaceuticals and supplies and in the past five years has served as a member of the board of directors of NuGEN Technologies, Inc., a private company that develops and commercializes rapid, highsensitivity and highthroughput amplification and labeling systems for genomic analysis, which was acquired by the Tecan Group in September 2018 since 2017.
