Previously he was Minister for Trade and Tourism of Portugal, Minister for Agriculture, Fishing and Food, Member of Parliament . He holds a Licentiate Degree in Civil Engineering from Instituto Superior Tecnico. He also finished a Program on Management Development in 1969. He is Chairman of the Committee for Risk Assessment of the Company. He is Member of the Committee for Nominations and Remunerations of the Company. since 2014.
