He earned his bachelor degree at Tufts University, master degrees in public health and industrial engineering at the University of Missouri, and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering at the University of Missouri. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society . He is a senior member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers .
