Mr. Glenn S. Schafer, CPA, is a Director of Genesis HealthCare Inc. Mr. Schafer has served as a member of the Board of Directors since April 2006 and as Chairman of the Board of Directors since November 2013. Since December 2007, Mr. Schafer has served on the board of directors of Janus Capital Group, a NYSElisted asset manager. He also served on the board of directors of Beckman Coulter, Inc., a NYSElisted diagnostics and medical device company, from 2002 until the companys sale in 2011, including as Lead Independent Director beginning in February 2010 and Nonexecutive Chairman beginning in September 2010. Mr. Schafer serves on the board of directors of the Michigan State University Foundation, a nonprofit entity that supports the universitys strategic needs, as well as on the board of directors of GeoOptics, Inc., an environmental earth observation company. Previously, Mr. Schafer held various positions at Pacific Life Insurance Company, a provider of life insurance products, annuities and mutual funds, having served as Vice Chairman from April 2005 until his retirement on December 31, 2005, President and a director since 1995, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 1991 to 1995, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 1987 to 1991 and Vice President, Corporationrationrate Finance from 1986 to 1987 since 2015.
