Dr. Idrus A. Paturusi serves as Independent Commissioner of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk since April 25, 2012. He joined Universitas Hasanuddin as senior staff at the Laboratory of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine in 1978. From 2002 to 2006, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and from 2006 to 2014 he served as Rector of the University of Hasanuddin. His writings on medicine, health and disaster management have been published nationally. For more than 10 years, Dr. Paturusi served as Coordinator for the Disaster Response Brigade to the east of Indonesia and participated in assisting medical teams in various disaster response activities in Indonesia and abroad, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Japan, Aceh, Yogyakarta, Nias, Padang, and Papua. In 1998, he was appointed as Head of the Crisis Centre Advance Team at Dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo Hospital in Makassar. He is also trusted as the chairman of the Rector Council of Indonesia State Universities from 2012 to 2014, and also as President of The Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning for the period 2013 to 2015 since 2012.

Vale Indonesia Tbk Leadership Team
Elected by the shareholders, the Vale Indonesia's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Vale Indonesia inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Vale. The board's role is to monitor Vale Indonesia's management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served.
