In 1996 he received his Ph.D. in Economics at the London School of Economics and from 1996 to 1999 he worked as an economist in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund. He was Economic Advisor of the Ministry of Economy and Finance in 2004 and 2005 and Associate professor at the Bocconi University in Milan from 2000 to 2004. since 2013.
