Datuk Abdul Farid Alias is Group President, Chief Executive Officer, NonIndependent Executive Director of Malayan Banking Berhad since August 2, 2013. He serves as Chairman of the Group Executive Committee and as a member of the Credit Review Committee of the Board. He was the Deputy President and Head, Global Banking from 1 July 2010 before his appointment as Group President Chief Executive Officer. He joined the Maybank Group in 2008. Prior to joining Maybank, he has over 20 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance and capital markets with Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad, Schroders, Malaysian International Merchant Bankers Berhad, J.P. Morgan and Khazanah Nasional Berhad . His current directorships in companies within the Maybank Group include as a director of Etiqa International Holdings Sdn Bhd and Commissioner of PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk. His directorships in other companies include as director of Cagamas Holdings Berhad, Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Asian Banking School Sdn Bhd and STF Resources Sdn Bhd. Datuk Abdul Farid is currently the Chairman of The Association of Banks in Malaysia and Vice Chairman of Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers . He is also a member of the Asian Bankers Association Policy Advocacy Committee, Visa Asia Pacific Senior Client Council, ASEAN Business Advisory Council Malaysia and Investment Panel of Kumpulan Wang Persaraan . He has also been appointed as a member of the Emerging Markets Advisory Council of the Institute of International Finance, Washington DC. since 2013.
