Bryan T. Whalen, CFA Group Managing Director U.S. Fixed Income Mr. Whalen is a Generalist Portfolio Manager in the U.S. Fixed Income Group. Mr. Whalen joined TCW in 2009 during the acquisition of Metropolitan West Asset Management LLC as cohead of the Securitized Products division. Prior to joining TCW, Mr. Whalen was a partner and cohead of MetWests Securitized Products division. Prior to joining MetWest in 2004, he was a director in the fixed income department at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York. Previously, he was a vice president at Donaldson, Lufkin Jenrette. Mr. Whalen earned a BA in Economics from Yale University. He is a CFA charterholder.

Elected by the shareholders, the Metropolitan West's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Metropolitan West inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Metropolitan. The board's role is to monitor Metropolitan West's management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served. Metropolitan West's inside directors are responsible for reviewing and approving budgets prepared by upper management to implement core corporate initiatives and projects. On the other hand, Metropolitan West's outside directors are responsible for providing unbiased perspectives on the board's policies.
