Mr. John P. Amboian is Director of Nuveen AMTFree Municipal Value Fund . Mr. Amboian, an interested Board Member of the Funds, joined Nuveen in June 1995 and became Chief Executive Officer in July 2007 and Chairman in November 2007. Prior to this, since 1999, he served as President with responsibility for the firms product, marketing, sales, operations and administrative activities. Mr. Amboian initially served Nuveen as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Nuveen, Mr. Amboian held key management positions with two consumer product firms affiliated with the Phillip Morris Companies. He served as Senior Vice President of Finance, Strategy and Systems at Miller Brewing Company. Mr. Amboian began his career in corporate and international finance at Kraft Foods, Inc., where he eventually served as Treasurer. He received a Bachelors degree in economics and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago

Elected by the shareholders, the Nuveen Amt's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Nuveen Amt inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Nuveen. The board's role is to monitor Nuveen Amt's management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served. Nuveen Amt's inside directors are responsible for reviewing and approving budgets prepared by upper management to implement core corporate initiatives and projects. On the other hand, Nuveen Amt's outside directors are responsible for providing unbiased perspectives on the board's policies.
