Eng. Xavier Garcia de Quevedo Topete is an Independent Director of the Company. He was Chief Operating Officer of Southern Copper Corporationration and President of the infrastructure division of Grupo Mexico a subsidiary of the Company. has served as our Chief Operating Officer since April 12 2005. Since November 1 2014 Mr. Garcia de Quevedo Topete is the President of the infrastructure division of Grupo Mexico comprised of the energy gas oil and construction subsidiaries of Grupo Mexico. He was the President of Minera Mexico S.A. de C.V. from September 2001 to October 31 2014 and the President and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Copper Minera Mexico from April 12 2005 until November 1 2014. He was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Americas Mining Corporation from September 7 2007 to October 31 2014. He also served as a member of our Board of Directors since November 1999. From December 2009 to June 2010 he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Asarco. He was previously President of Asarco from November 1999 to September 2001 since 2015.

SOUTHERN PER Leadership Team
Elected by the shareholders, the SOUTHERN PER's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: SOUTHERN PER inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of SOUTHERN. The board's role is to monitor SOUTHERN PER's management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served. SOUTHERN PER's inside directors are responsible for reviewing and approving budgets prepared by upper management to implement core corporate initiatives and projects.
