Dr. Luciano Galvao Coutinho serves as Member of the Board of Directors of Petroleo Brasileiro S.A. Petrobras. Prior to this he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company. He is Representative of the Controlling Shareholder. In 1994 he coordinated the Study on the Brazilian Industry Competitiveness. From 1985 to 1988 he was Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology were he helped structure the Ministry and conceive policies aimed at areas such as biotechnology information technology chemistry precision mechanics and new materials. He was Visiting Professor at the Universities of Sao Paulo of Paris XIII of Texas and at the Ortega y Gasset Institute in addition to being full Professor at Unicamp. Before being appointed President of the BNDES he was Partner at LCA Consultores where he worked as Specialist Consultant in the defense of competition in international trade and prepared technical economic reports. He also serves as Member of the Board of Directors of Petrobras Distribuidora SA. He graduated from Cornell University with a Doctorate in Philosophy in Economics from Universidade de Sao Paulo with a Master in Economics and from Universidade de Sao Paulo with a Bachelor in Economics. since 2015.
