Mr. Kevin A. H. Parry is no longer Senior Independent NonExecutive Director of the Company, with effect from 1 January 2019. He was Appointed Director in October 2014, Kevin is the Companys Senior Independent Director. He is also chairman of Intermediate Capital Group plc and nonexecutive director of Daily Mail and General Trust plc and Nationwide Building Society. Kevin was previously with Schroders plc, firstly as a nonexecutive director between 2002 and 2008 and, latterly, as CFO between 2009 and 2013. Prior to this, Kevin served as CEO of Management Consulting Group between 2000 and 2008. He was awarded an OBE for charitable services in the New Years Honours List. since 2016.

Elected by the shareholders, the Standard Life's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Standard Life inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Standard. The board's role is to monitor Standard Life's management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served.
