He previously served as Chief Patent Counsel for Abbott Laboratories and Assistant Chief Patent Counsel for Johnson & Johnson . He also worked as a trial attorney litigating patent cases when he was a partner at the law firms of Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison and earlier with the law firm of Jones Day, Reavis and Pogue . He joined Sanofi in March 2008. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering cum laude from Lafayette College and a Juris Doctor Degree magna cum laude from Cornell Law School .
