She was a professor of financial economics at the University of Zurich from March 2000 until July 2008 and was previously a professor of finance at the University of Lausanne since 2000.

Elected by the shareholders, the Swiss Re's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Swiss Re inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Swiss.
