Jimmy Castro - Tribune Media President & General Manager - WGN-AM Radio

President

Mr. Jimmy de Castro was appointed as the President General Manager WGNAM Radio of Tribune Company effective June 3 2013. Mr. de Castro has spent more than 25 years as one of the industry most media and operations executives. In 2007 de Castro launched the Content Factory an independent contentfocused national syndication company for new and traditional media providing customized initiatives and broadcast personalities across multiple platforms. He hired Dan Patrick from ESPN and in just six weeks de Castro signed over 80 station affiliates to carry Patrick radio show. By early 2009 the show was distributed to over 200 radio affiliates DirecTV online mobile and publishing platforms since 2013.

de Castro began his career in marketing and sales, which eventually led to radio management and ownership. He cofounded sixstation radio group Evergreen Media in 1988 and grew it into 465 stations within 12 years, creating AMFM, Inc., the nation radio broadcasting company at the time. de Castro served as Vice Chairman and CEO of the company, which broadcast in over 100 markets and reached more than 64 million listeners. Under his leadership, AMFM formed three divisions focusing on Internet and related business and expanded its outdoor advertising businesses. de Castro also served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AMFMi, the company internet subsidiary. In 2000, de Castro resigned from AMFM, Inc. to devote his efforts exclusively to the convergence of media and the internet and founded the company Nothing But Net. Subsequently, he became a consultant to America Online and later served as President of AOL Interactive Services.

Tribune Media Management Efficiency

The company has return on total asset (ROA) of 0.0488 % which means that it generated a profit of $0.0488 on every $100 spent on assets. This is way below average. Similarly, it shows a return on stockholder's equity (ROE) of 0.12 %, meaning that it created $0.12 on every $100 dollars invested by stockholders. Tribune Media's management efficiency ratios could be used to measure how well Tribune Media manages its routine affairs as well as how well it operates its assets and liabilities.
The company currently holds 3.14 B in liabilities with Debt to Equity (D/E) ratio of 85.6, indicating the company may have difficulties to generate enough cash to satisfy its financial obligations. Tribune Media has a current ratio of 3.79, suggesting that it is liquid enough and is able to pay its financial obligations when due. Debt can assist Tribune Media until it has trouble settling it off, either with new capital or with free cash flow. So, Tribune Media's shareholders could walk away with nothing if the company can't fulfill its legal obligations to repay debt. However, a more frequent occurrence is when companies like Tribune Media sell additional shares at bargain prices, diluting existing shareholders. Debt, in this case, can be an excellent and much better tool for Tribune to invest in growth at high rates of return. When we think about Tribune Media's use of debt, we should always consider it together with cash and equity.
