Mr. Ratan Naval Tata has resigned as NonExecutive Chairman of the Board of Tata Motors Limited effective December 28, 2012. He holds a B.Sc. degree in structural engineering from Cornell University, USA, and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, USA. He joined the Tata Group in 1962 and in 1991, Mr. Tata was appointed Chairman of Tata Sons Limited. Mr. Tata is associated with various organizations in India and overseas being Alcoa, Mitsubishi Corporationrationration, the American International Group, JP Morgan Chase and Rolls Royce. Mr. Tata is also affiliated with the Indian Institute of Science, the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and is the Chairman of the two of the private sector promoted philanthropic trusts in India. He joined the Company?s board in 1981, became Executive Chairman in 1988 and was appointed as the Non Executive Chairman in 2001. Mr. Tata is actively involved with product development and other business strategies pursued by the Company. Under his leadership, the Company has transformed from being a in the domestic commercial vehicle market to being India automobile company, with businesses in both commercial vehicles and passenger cars and a growing international footprint. Some of his achievements include the design and development of India?s first indigenously produced car, the Indica, and the Nano, among the world?s cheapest cars and the acquisition of Jaguar Land Rover.
