He was Head of Central European Section and Gas Purchase Division of Ruhrgas AG between 1992 and 1995 Head of Russian Gas Section and Gas Purchase Division of Ruhrgas AG between 1995 and 1997 and Head of Eastern Gas Purchase Department of Ruhrgas AG between 1997 and 2001. He was appointed Senior Vice President and Head of Gas Supply Division East of E.ON Ruhrgas AG in 2002

Elected by the shareholders, the AS Latvijas' board of directors comprises two types of representatives: AS Latvijas inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of UMA.
