He gained a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade de Sao Paulo in 1971, a Masters in Finance from Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro in 1972 and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Economics from Universidade Estadual de Campinas in 1984. since 2010.
