Ms. Judith M. Stockdale is an Independent Director of the Company. Ms. Stockdale retired at the end of 2012 as Executive Director of the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, a private foundation working in land conservation and artistic vitality in the Chicago region and the Low Country of South Carolina. She is currently a board member of the U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities and rejoined the board of the Land Trust Alliance in June 2013. Her previous positions include Executive Director of the Great Lakes Protection Fund, Executive Director of Openlands, and Senior Staff Associate at the Chicago Community Trust. She has served on the Advisory Council of the National Zoological Park, the Governors Science Advisory Council and the Nancy Ryerson Ranney Leadership Grants Program. She has served on the Boards of Brushwood Center and the Donors Forum. Ms. Stockdale, a native of the United Kingdom, has a BS degree in geography from the University of Durham and a Master of Forest Science degree from Yale University. Ms. Stockdale joined the Board in 1997.

Nuveen Municipal Value Leadership Team
Elected by the shareholders, the Nuveen Municipal's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Nuveen Municipal inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Nuveen. The board's role is to monitor Nuveen Municipal's management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served. Nuveen Municipal's inside directors are responsible for reviewing and approving budgets prepared by upper management to implement core corporate initiatives and projects.
