Dr. Marijn E. Dekkers has decided to step down from his position as Chairman of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of Bayer AG effective April 30 2016 which he served since October 1 2010. He served as Member of the Management Board at the Company as of January 1 2010 till October 1 2010. He began his career in the central research department of General Electric in Schenectady New York. Two years later Dr. Dekkers transferred to the GE Plastics research facility at Bergen op Zoom in the Netherlands. In 1988 he returned to the corporate research center to become Head of polymer materials research. After that Dr. Dekkers held further management positions in various polymers units of GE. In 1995 he joined Allied Signal in Morristown New Jersey. In the period through the end of 1999 he headed this companys Specialty Films and Fluorine Chemicals business groups and then the Electronic Materials division in San Jose in Californias Silicon Valley. In 2000 Dr. Dekkers accepted an offer from Bostonbased Thermo Electron Corporationrationration. There he initially served as Chief Operating Officer. Two years later he was appointed the companys President and Chief Executive Officer since 2010.
