Mr. Antonio Vella serves as Chief Upstream Officer at Eni S.p.A. since July 1, 2014. In 1983 he joined the Eni group. He began his career as an oil engineer in Agip, Libya, following upstream operations onshore and offshore. From 1988 to 1991 he held the position of Project Manager for the petrochemical plants and Enichem refineries in Italy. In 1991 he was appointed Project Manager for the development of the Libyan camps and in 1993 he moved to Egypt first as Operations Manager then as General Manager and Managing Director of Petrobel, responsible for all Eni Upstream operations in Egypt. In 1999 he became District General Manager of Nigerian Agip Oil Co, and in 2000 Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Eni companies in Nigeria NAOC, NAE and AENR . Since 2002 he was Regional Vice President for Australasia, Russia, Azerbaijan and then in 2005 member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of Eni Algeria. From 2006 to 2009 he was Regional Senior Vice President in North Africa and in the Middle East area in Eni Exploration Production Division. Since 2009 he was Executive Vice President Operations of the Exploration and Production Division. In December 2012 he was appointed Executive Vice President for Central Asia, the Far East and the Pacific area. In 1982 he graduated in Engineering at the Polytechnic of Turin. since 2014.
