Mr. Markus Berger was Member of the Management Committee and Chief Infrastructure Officer at Elia System Operator N.V. since 2015. Prior to that, he was Member of the Management Committee, Chief Officer Asset Management and Chief Officer Infrastructure Development of the Company. He earned his degree in Civil Electromechanical Engineering from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles and in 2002 he earned executive Master degree in Management and Business Administration from the Ecole de Commerce E. Solvay . He began his career in 1988 with Laborelec as System Engineer and in 1996 was appointed Project Engineer at Electrabel. He joined the organization that was put in place in 1999 to prepare the creation of Elia and from 2001 to 2002 was in charge of the Maintenance Services for the Southern part of the country. From 2002 to 2003 he was Head of the Sales Department. From 2004 to end October 2008 he was Chief Officer Grid Services. As from November 2008 he heads Elia Engineering. He also sits on the Investment Committee of Eurogrid International, the holding company created by Elia and Industry Fund Management for their joint acquisition of 50Hertz. Mr. Berger is also a Board Member of UWE, UWEL, Bemas, Ampacimon and the CIGRE association.
