Mr. William Neukom is the Lead Independent Director of Fortinet Inc. Mr. Neukom has served as a member of our Board of Directors since January 2013 and has served as our Lead Independent Director since April 2018. Mr. Neukom is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the World Justice Project, an organization devoted to promoting the rule of law throughout the world. He is a retired partner in the Seattle office of the international law firm KL Gates LLP and is a lecturer at Stanford Law School, where he teaches a seminar on the rule of law. He is a member of the Deans Council at Stanford Law School and was its chair from 2012 to 2015. Mr. Neukom was the Chief Executive Officer of the San Francisco Giants major league baseball team from 2008 to 2011, and served as its Chairman Emeritus during 2012. He is a trustee emeritus of Dartmouth College, having served as chair of the board from 2004 to 2007, and was president of the American Bar Association from 2007 to 2008. Mr. Neukom was previously the lead lawyer for Microsoft Corporation for nearly 25 years, managing its legal, government affairs and philanthropic activities. He retired from Microsoft as its Executive Vice President of Law and Corporationrationrate Affairs in 2002, when he returned to Preston, Gates Ellis LLP and served as the firms chairman from 2003 until its merger with Kirkpatrick Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP in 2007. Mr. Neukom also serves on the board of several notforprofit organizations. Mr. Neukom earned an A.B. from Dartmouth College and an LL.B. from Stanford University. since 2018.
