Mr. Patrick Blackwell Paul, CBE, serves as Independent Nonexecutive Director of The HongKong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Mr Paul was appointed to the Board in February 2004. He began his career with Price Waterhouse in London in 1969. A resident of Hong Kong since 1980, he was Chairman and senior partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Hong Kong from 1994 until 2001. He is an Independent NonExecutive Director of Johnson Electric Holdings Limited and Pacific Basin Shipping Limited. He is also the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. since 2004.

Hongkong and Shanghai Leadership Team
Elected by the shareholders, the Hongkong's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Hongkong inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Hongkong. The board's role is to monitor Hongkong's management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served. Hongkong's inside directors are responsible for reviewing and approving budgets prepared by upper management to implement core corporate initiatives and projects.
