Dr. David M. Hillenbrand, Ph.D. is the Lead Independent Chairman of the Board of the Company. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, a nonprofit organization, from July 2005 through February 2011 and from January 2013 to June 2014. Dr. Hillenbrand has proven experience and leadership within the specialty chemicals industry, having served in a number of senior management positions during his 27year career with Bayer AG, a global enterprise providing products and services in the fields of health care, nutrition, hightech materials and specialty chemicals. Dr. Hillenbrand retired from his most recent position with Bayer AG in August 2003, where he was Executive Vice President and a member of the executive committee and Labor Director of Bayer Polymers. Dr. Hillenbrand had previously served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Bayer AGs Canadian operations for eight years since 2010.

Koppers Holdings Leadership Team
