As research manager at SWIP he prioritised and coordinated the teams stock research activities, a role he will now fulfil at Marchtin Currie. He was lead manager of the globalemergingmarkets smallercompanies mandates and specialist Central and Eastern European mandates, and had sectoranalyst responsibility for stocks across the consumer and healthcare sectors. Before joining SWIP, Alastair was an investment manager with Edinburgh Fund Managers. He began his career with Scottish Amicable Investment Management, where he spent seven years as an analyst and fund manager.

Elected by the shareholders, the Martin Currie's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Martin Currie inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Martin. The board's role is to monitor Martin Currie's management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served. Martin Currie's inside directors are responsible for reviewing and approving budgets prepared by upper management to implement core corporate initiatives and projects. On the other hand, Martin Currie's outside directors are responsible for providing unbiased perspectives on the board's policies.
