Mr. Lee Ching Yen is no longer as NonExecutive NonIndependent Chairman of the Board of Singapore Airlines Limited. effective 1st January 2017. He is Chairman of SIA Engineering Company Limited and the NTUC Income Insurance Cooperative Limited. He is also the Managing Director of Shanghai Commercial and Savings Bank Ltd. and Great Malaysia Textile Investments Pte Ltd. Among several other appointments Mr Lee is a Senior International Advisor with Temasek International Advisors Pte Ltd and an alternate member of the Council of Presidential Advisers. He was President of the Singapore National Employers Federation from 1988 to 2014 and Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation from 2002 to 2008 and International Enterprise Singapore from 1995 to 2002. Mr Lee was a Nominated Member of Parliament from 1994 to 1997. In 2006 Mr Lee was awarded the Distinguished Service Order for his contributions to both the public and private sectors. For his sterling contributions to the labour movement Mr Lee was awarded the Distinguished Comrade of Labour this year. since 2006.

Elected by the shareholders, the Singapore Airlines' board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Singapore Airlines inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Singapore.
